Re-sampling Methods in Regression: Which Method to Use under Non-normality?
نویسندگان
چکیده
A variety of re-sampling methods have been developed to test the significance of regression coefficients in multiple regression (Levin & Robins, 1983; Freedman & Lane, 1983; Oja, 1987; Kennedy & Cade, 1996; ter Braak, 1992 and Manly, 1997). Some studies have compared the performance of some permutation methods when collinearity is present, when different sample sizes are used, when errors are normally and exponentially distributed and when there are few outliers present (Kennedy & Cade, 1996; Manly, 1997 and Anderson & Legendre, 1999). The main objective in this study is to assess the performance of a more comprehensive list of resampling methods in regression, in order to test the significance of coefficients in a multiple linear regression model with residuals displaying different levels of skewness and kurtosis.

Regression Analysis with Response-selective Sampling
Response-selective sampling, in which samples are drawn from a population according to the values of the response variable, is common in biomedical, epidemiological, economic and social studies. This paper proposes to use transformation models, known as the generalized accelerated failure time model in econometrics, for regression analysis with response-selective sampling. With unknown error di...
متن کاملEstimation and Inference of Quantile Regression for Survival Data under Biased Sampling
Biased sampling occurs frequently in economics, epidemiology and medical studies either by design or due to data collecting mechanism. Failing to take into account the sampling bias usually leads to incorrect inference. We propose a unified estimation procedure and a computationally fast resampling method to make statistical inference for quantile regression with survival data under general bia...
متن کاملEffect of Non-Normality on Sampling Plan Using Yule’s Model
In this paper, the effect of non-normality on sampling plan using Yule’s model (second order auto regressive model {AR (2)}) represented by the Edgeworth series is studied for known $sigma$. The effect of using the normal theory sampling plan in a non-normal situation using Yule’s model is studied by obtaining the distorted errors of the first and second kind. As one will be interes...
متن کاملPower and robustness of linkage tests for quantitative traits in general pedigrees.
There are numerous statistical methods for quantitative trait linkage analysis in human studies. An ideal such method would have high power to detect genetic loci contributing to the trait, would be robust to non-normality in the phenotype distribution, would be appropriate for general pedigrees, would allow the incorporation of environmental covariates, and would be appropriate in the presence...
متن کاملMVN: An R Package for Assessing Multivariate Normality
Assessing the assumption of multivariate normality is required by many parametric multivariate statistical methods, such as MANOVA, linear discriminant analysis, principal component analysis, canonical correlation, etc. It is important to assess multivariate normality in order to proceed with such statistical methods. There are many analytical methods proposed for checking multivariate normalit...
